My wife & I want to go rent a dvd....we're not necessarily into all action/no substance movies, nor do we want the standard romantic comedy.
What are a couple of outstanding movies that have come out in the past couple months, on dvd?

Best movie I rented the last couple of months....Cinderella Man (Russell Crowe), excellent movie. Can't say enough good things.
Another recent good one.... The Inside Man (Denzel Washington), a very good who-done-it.

personal i love the movie nothing to lose but that came out in the 90's but still a very funny movie also just like heaven that's an awesome move or the wedding date that's also a great move those are some movies that i think are great

Memoirs of a Geisha, Walk the Line, maybe those came out a while ago. But they're romantic & action filled too.

I highly reccomend all 5 of these recently released movies. Each one was unique, had an EXCELLENT story, and kept you thinking "what's gonna happen now?" I love them all:

I know it's corny, but Nacho Libre was awesome. It's cute and very funny!
X-Men was also very awesome.
I've been watching Walk the Line like every day on HBO. It's a little on the long side but it's really good.

Cinderella Man with Russel Crowe was an amazing movie. One of the best movies I've ever seen. I highly recomend it.

It's not recent but it's excellent...Diggstown with James Woods and Lou Gosset Jr. and Bruce Dern.
