It's because mother's the nuturer, and usually young kids go with the mom. Dad's just the provider.

Very very discriminatory, but the tide is beginning to reverse. Assuming that the mother is the best parent is a wrong decision so many times. You need to find a lawyer that has a strong winning history of representing men in child custody issues. Check with the local bar association. Talk with other divorced men. Get into some divorced fathers groups and network! Make sure that if she DOES get custody, that she is denied the right to bring boyfriends around your kids - that would subject them to possible pedophiles. Whatever you do - fight for your kids tooth and nail, if indeed the mother is unfit. Gather what evidence you need; hire a detective - whatever. Don't' give up because 99% of the people out there try to convince you that your wife will get the kids. Try to not settle for joint custody. It confuses the kids too much. Need to have as stable an environment for them as possible.

It is discrimination. Guys have to prove the mother unfit in order to gain custody BUT the mother carried the baby in her womb for 9 months and is usually the caregiver. When your child is hurt and cries who does he or she cry for? Who got up in the middle of the night to change diapers or stayed up pacing the floor rocking the baby when it was awake all night with a fever? I'm not saying you didn't. I'm just saying it's usually the mother.

Because traditionally men have been the financial providers while women traditionally have been the nurturers. It's kind of difficult for a man to have custody of a child if that child is breastfed. I don't know of any men who can breastfeed a baby...do you? And you don't have to "Prove" anything you just have to give evidence that the mother is unfit in her role as such and you will be awarded custody.

THERE is nothing like a mothers love. Unless you have never had this, you wouldn't understand. And yes I agree only if the mother is unfit. Then again its good to have a father figure and if your not around then who's going to do it?

Children need their mothers more when they are young. When they reach their teenage years they need a strong, loving, firm father, who can guide them in the right path. Mothers are nurturing, fathers are teachers.

Maybe it's because you use all caps and say things like ain't. I agree that there are many good fathers out there who deserve to raise their children, but if you don't learn to express yourself better, you will never win in court.
