Seems to me you're more afraid of being tested as opposed to thinking you will fail. Knowing you are top academic says that you know you can do it....the fear may be from the test itself. Maybe a bit of your fear may be due to the fact that you may not be studying appropriately or as much as you should? I believe if you change your study habits you will feel more confident and not fear testing. Congrats on the top academic and do not focus on perfection, either. Remember...some of the top people in their industries had much more ambition and common sense than excellent college grades. We all make mistakes. It's ok to make em. Relax, read up on tips for self studying and enjoy life. It's short....all else will fall in place:)

hmm... it maters what subject you are speaking of. here's a list and how you can gain confidence.

English/ Reading) Read a lot, fiction, non-fiction,fantasy, adventure, magazines(not tabloids), the newspaper...start understanding the world around you. For English, write stories, essays, even write down your comments of how the political race is going.

Science) find a Topic that interests you (for me genetics) an learn all you can about it. then go to a trivia site on the web and get all the answers correct.

For Music/ Sport) Practice practice practice, Get a really hard piece by Bach done incredibly, and enjoy your success, for sport same thing, only beat others but learn from them also (ex. their batting was average, but the fielding stopped us from making any runs. learn why their fielding was good.)

For Geography/ history) Pick county/state and enjoy its rich culture and history. make some of its food.

Poor self confidence is usually an indication of someone who thinks too much about themselves. That sounds odd but if you think about it, it is true. You spend so much time worrying about how others see you or how you rate against others. You need to focus on helping others with their academic work. It will achieve two things. One, you won't spend so much time thinking about yourself and two, by helping others who don't know as much as you do, you will see that you have accomplished a lot

actually.. i think that's kind of good. XD If you're too confident, you're gonna be all laid back because you will think that you don't need to do this or that to pass because you got it all under control.
