Yes, little white lies are appropriate at times. There's no need to be honest to the point of lowering someone elses self esteem or hurting thier feelings. If you say it with love, is it really a lie?

Of course! In a society as pathologically emotionally dishonest as the American, telling the truth all the time will get you assaulted or institutionalized!

i think the whole white lie thing is okay. like if somebody asks you if they look good, and if they don't look TERRIBLE you should answer "yes you look great!" if there is something terribly wrong with there appearance, i think they would be grateful that you told them (spinach in the teeth, skirt tucked into underwear...)

well, it all depends on what the situation is.
OK, lets say if you were in a situation at school when tells on you telling the techer that you have a cell phone or some other eletronic. Are you gonna tell on yourself or stick up and say "What is she/he talking about?"?
