in the nucleus in eukaryote and for the prokayrote it is in nucleoid, which is not membrane bound like the nucleus. And is in all organisms.

Tiff is on the right track but the answer requires more detail.

In eukaryotes, there is a nucleus containing chromosomes, each made of DNA, and in prokayrotes the nucleoid consists of a ring of DNA. OK so far. The thing is that virtually all eukaryotes also contain mitochondria that are generally accepted to have been derived from endosymbiotic prokaryotes (that is, originally they were separate organisms that found a permanant home in eukaryotic cells) -- like other prokaryotes, they have a ring of DNA. Plant cells also contain chloroplasts as well as mitochondria ... these are also thought to be derived from endosymbiotic prokaryotes and have the same kind of DNA.

Viruses definitely have DNA as someone else pointed out. The idea that they are not living organisms is based on the fact that the DNA can only replicate inside another organism.

"Unable to replicate without a host cell, viruses are typically not considered living organisms." (link 3)

DNA is present in all organisms. It is made up of chromatiin in the nucleus of the cell.

tiff is correct.

There are RNA viruses, which use RNA to carry their genome, instead of DNA. These are also called retroviruses. HIV is an example. But scientists are not agreed about whether they are "organisms" or "alive".

It is in every cell of every living organism. That's why the saliva from a cigarette butt, or from licking an envelope, can connect a criminal to his crime. Be warned! Don't smoke at the crime scene!
