I'm just trying to understand... Some people say you can only get pregnant when you ovulate, which I understand is a few days after the end of your period, but then some people also say you can fall pregnant at anytime?!
Can anyone help me with the exact explanation pls?!

There is only supossed to be a 7 day period when you can get pregant but it is different for all women that is why they make ovulation tests.

You can fall pregnant at anytime IF you ovulated. You can not get prego unless you ovulate. Period. Now the reason you can still get pregnant at anytime is because sometimes you might ovulate earlier or later than the month before...also if you have very fertile cervical mucuous sperm can live up for 5 days. So if you had sex only a couple days after your period and ovulated 3 days later it is possible you could get pregnant if some sperm were living and your cervical mucuous was fertile....but always remember. You absolutely have to ovulate for it to happen at all.

It's possible to get pregnant if you have sex approximately 5 days before ovulation through about one day after ovulation. This is based on statistics, most people would fall within these seven days but your own mileage may vary. The likeliest day for getting pregnant is the day before ovulation.

Of course the tricky part is determining when you ovulate. You have to either chart (google Fertility Awareness Method) or you have to use OPKs (ovulation prediction kits, available next to pregnancy tests in the drug store). If you are trying to avoid pregnancy you need to abstain for more than just those 7 days, because you cannot say for certain when you will ovulate.

you CAN only get pregnant IF you ovulate . The sperm has to meet the egg then it has to implant .Differrant women ovulate at differant times which could explain why you have been told that . Sperm can live in tubes for five days ,but egg life is much shorter before it is expelled , i think its about a period of 24-36 hours, if you dont have intercourse during this time , you will not get pregnant . Also you ovulate around mid cycle .although this also differs from woman to woman .hope this helps

You ovulate about 2 weeks after your period.....if you are regular. Your egg usually survives for a day or two, but sperm can last 3 days or more.
