I went through the same thing when I was younger--I tried to figure out how to use a tampon before I got my period, but it hurt like hell! Once my period finally came, I was so turned off that I didn't use tampons for years. Don't make the same mistake I did--just wait until your period comes before trying again. When you have your flow, then the tampon will slide in easily. The most important thing is to just relax when you insert it. Some women insert it sitting down, but I find it easiest if I'm standing. The directions inside the box are really helpful, and they give you a nifty little diagram, too. Start with regulars, because they're slimmer than a super. And my personal favorite brand is Pearl by Tampax because it NEVER leaks! But definitely use them once your period starts because they make like so much easier and you don't feel all yucky like pads make you feel.

Good luck!

The directions on the box really help. If you don't have a period yet, it's probably better to wait to try to use tampons until you do. Try the slimfits or whatever they're called, by Playtex. From what I remember, it took a few tries before I was successful.

1. Wait until you start your period pretty heavily. The blood will make inserting a tampon pain free.

2. Don't push it in straight up- one of my first mistakes! Instead, if you are sitting on the toilet, push it up and towards your back. It should slide in easily. If it doesn't, relax and try again.

Here ya go.
Make sure you're using the lightest absorbency you can get away with, and untill you get it right, you might want to use a small pad or pantyliner.

As for the pain, try putting a little bit of lotion around the entrance, not a lot.
Also, wait till you start bleeding fairly good, inserting a tampon while you're not bleeding hurts like a mofo.

Hope this helps!

First of all , make sure you're placing it in the correct hole. You have the clitorous in the front where you pee from, and the one behind that is your vagina which is where you have intercourse and your period. That is where you place the tampon. It takes a little practice. Try reading the instructions on box. PS, if you are placing it in the correct hole it should'nt be painful!

make sure you use the smallest tampon available. try lubricating it with k-y gelly or saliva. then make sure you are slanting the tampon toward your lower back, too. try using a mirror to make sure you have the tampon positioned right. try beinggirl.com for more tips

It is easier to get it in when you have started because it will slide better.
You also have to make sure it gets past your pc muscle
Read the directions in the box
