If you have been denied your dignity or lost it along the way, please explain how or why. Who took it? Was it stolen?

I'm lying on the floor clinging to a shred of dignity and I won't let go of it!

I was beaten up almost every day of my senior year of high school... spit on, pushed down in the hallway, called every name in the book, had gum in my hair, milk poured on me at lunch... the other students were douches... but I still have my dignity, because I never once stepped down to their level, and I came out with my head up... does that count?

My "dignity" or self esteem was almost totally destroyed by my late partner's family. Their treatment of her remains, headstone with "UNKNOWN TO GOD" Cursing me at the grave side to the extent I was willing to kill the woman speaking. Enough. I at last asked my brother to get help for me and at long last can forgive them. My dignity was in tatters like an old banner but my darling took it to heaven where it is displayed'
Don't like the sentiments ? Then I forgive you too.

I have great dignity in who I am. I met my soul mate 14 years ago, I'm whole, happy and complete. Nobody can take my dignity hun unless I allow it and that's one thing that aint' gonna happen. Don't allow it to happen to you...

I'm totally dignified and absolutely never lost it. People try to take dignity-- how droll! It can only be given!

I've only recently reclaimed mine. :)

Yes, I'm still oppressed, but I'm done being victimized. Instead of shrinking back into a corner, I get pissed off.
