Education provides you with knowledge, I know. But let me ask you, did it really help you when you learned when Abarham Lincoln was born or who invented the bicycle? I was reading a book in my english class called Fareignheit 451and in it the society burns books which it feels makes them sad. Now books provide us with education don't they, so we should use them, right? Maybe? Education isn't all important is it? I'm sure all of you have gone to a class which you thought was useless. But is it really? Think about it... I'm not sure exactly if school really does help prepare kids for life. It sure does cram facts into our brain though.

Totally not with you. Knowing when Abraham Lincoln was born and who invented the bicycle helped me pass a history test, which in turn helped me be admitted to the AP class. That allowed me to take the AP test, earn a hundred dollars, and get college credit, while notifying the administrators in my school that I might qualify for the fast track program. The fast track program helped me prep for SAT and fill out college applications and scholarships and I eventually got a good score on the SAT and accepted into my school of choice. Now I'm in my 3rd year with a 3.949 and on my way to a gratifying and good paying job. And it was all because I knew when Abe Lincoln was born and who invented the bicycle.

Short answer: Education is paramount; knowledge is power; knowing is half the battle; go to school, don't be a fool, get an education (that was the theme song of our local community college for years!)

I hated school, not only did I miss alot of school because i would get picked on, but I found alot of the classes really not useful at all. i always failed at math and science yet i was an A grade student in art, they were not much help in trying to prepare me for uni or a sold job, it was not until i got a traineeship for an i.t firm that i was finally happy with what i was doing, sometimes i wish i had just skipped school all together and just go into the work fource and taken small short course in particular fields to qualify myself in particular postions.

see, u are missing the point of school, it is to get u ready for college. They teach you study techniques, they teach you music or a sport as recreation. They taught you about Abe and Bicycle inventor because it is good to know the history of things. You are also focusing on one subject, Social studies/history/Geography. Math with its fibonnachi sequence is helpful. English with its proper grammer(which i am masacarring) is helpful. Science is helpful because you should know about the world around you.

School prepares you to be able to learn on your own. Every single fact you learn during school is not directly related to the rest of your life. However, school is meant to teach students how to be able to access information so that they will be able to as adults. It teaches organization skills, research skills, study skills, memorization skills, and even socialization. You acquire a lot of that over time in school without even really realizing it. And without those skills, adult life can get more complicated than it already is. So yes, school is really helpful.
