Had x-rays, nothing broken. Told to rest, ice, etc. Was given an air cast and crutches. Can put some weight on the ankle, but is very swollen across the top of my foot. Today I have a fever of 100 degrees. Could this be caused by the sprain? Or just coincidence? Could this be something serious?

If it's a bad sprain you may get a fever. Please stay off it and take tylenol or advil for the pain and fever. If it spikes up you may need a second opinion. Stay off it and use the ice to keep the sweling down. The white blood cells are trying to heal and that will raise your temp. good luck.

Hello! Did the doctor give you medicine? The side effect could of caused the fever or that it takes alot to heal the ankle that it may shocked the body to cause the fever.

If your into herbs, not taking medicines, take echinacea tea.

I don't think a sprained ankle has anything to do with having a fever.
