I got this packet in the mail the other day referencing a Campbell Class Action Settlement. Apparently someone sued Verizon/Airtouch, and it's just now done.

OK, so apparently Verizon did something wrong way back in the day, and so they have to offer benefits to affected subscribers to make it right. So why do I have to extend my service contract an addiitonal year to receive a crummy $15 service credit or a whopping 25% discount on a wireless accessory? Why do I have to do ANYTHING to get this when I am not the one who did anything wrong?

The alternative is to get a service credit of $3 every 3 months beginning in my SEVENTH month after redemption of the voucher, up to and including the 28th month after redemption, or until I enter into a new contract.

It looks like a scam to me, like it's not real. Anyone else get this and A) know if it's for real; or B) think it's a cheapo way of getting out of trouble?

Read it carefully. You have options which do NOT require extending you contract. You also should have received a 2nd voucher for additional products (ear-buds or non-ear bud types). This is a legitimate class-action suit and, if like my family, you are going to add a new phone to your existing plan, it is enough to parlay some of the cost back to Verizon. Also, any refund, no matter how small, is money in your pocket. Have at it...

Verizon from what I hear did have a class action settlement for way back when, but the whole idea is 15 dollars worth the paperwork and time, maybe it is, but for some it's just a waste of time...

It's real & it was for Verizon Wireless. Im in PA & I got one of those too. I don't have Verizon Wireless anymore so I threw mine away. I honestly didn't even read the whole entire thing. From what you said, it doesn't sound legit. I'm sure it is, but you only get your "discount" if you sign for another contract. Sounds lame. Throw it away. I have Cingular & I love it.

Yes I got it too. This is a legit class action. $15 credit if I extend the service for 1 year. Whoopie! (sarcasm)
