If a Pit Bull was attacking a child or a person then you have to get it to unclamp it's jaws. Once the pit bull locks it's jaw then you have one hell of a job on your hands. I'm an animal lover but the only way that you could get it to let go would be to inflict pain on the animal. I would throw hot water over it or stab it in the hind leg. Most certainly the pit bull would turn on you but there is always the chance that it would run off. I would take this chance

I'd be pounding on that dog. Maybe that wouldn't be the best way to stop the attack... but my adrenaline would take over and I'd be in there doing my best. I can't stand feeling helpless when somebody is in trouble.

P.S. I'm not picking on pit bulls, either. My son has one that is the sweetest little doggie I've ever seen. They do have a tendency to get violent, though... and if this dog ever attacked any person, I'd make sure that was her last act as a living dog. NO WAY should animals be held as more important than people. I've seen what Doberman Pinschers can do to a child, also... and it's not good. That's another breed that needs to be watched!!

Generally speaking people are pansies and would not help a child being attacked. I went through a tramatic experience of meeting God in the flesh when I was three when my mother was taken to heaven. At ten I saved my first life and nearly died while doing it. At 18 I took on 8 police for beating a hancuffed Mexican American. At 22 I took on a huge Alligator to protect a little boy frozenstiff ten feet away. Changed tirers for pretty old women and even in a rain storm and started cars and caused Air Force One to fly arround. I have the "Ability" and I would help a child in a new york minute but I have a different perspective on life with two movies and many government input TV episodes to insure more become like me by posting state constitutions on the wall and doing my best to establish The United Staes of Iceland, know it all of the law jerk kids, the adults are allmost hopeless but we can try, and getting rid of North Dakota, the least violent state per capita that doesn't help the rest of US, to the French Canadians and drive the Bloody British out of the Monarchy of Pennsylvania once and for all.

Fact: I have seen a pit ful killed another dog (A neighbor's bet). That pit bull basically wouldn't let go its victim. that experience really made me think how to stop pit bull. I was a child then and helpless and I was standing there seeing my neighbor's pet being killed..
If it happens to a human/child or dog again, I think we should be prepared. I would probably get something to poke in its eyes to stop. However, it may not be that easy, pit bull is one tough dog

I have been in this situation. A nieghbor and I were outside talking when we heard one of the nieghborhhod kids scream. I looked over and saw a 11 year old boy backed onto a house transformer with a barking snarling pitbull trying to attack him. My nieghbor ran for the child's mother and I ran at the dog screaming and waving my arms. The dog was confused but only for a minute and came after me! I distracted it long enough for the boy to run into his house and I jkust kept screaming and waving my arms and finally it ran. Animal control picked it up later.
I really didn't stop to think what would happen if that dog attacked me. I have a wonderful husband and beautiful 3 year old son but the most important thing to me at that moment was that 11 year old child getting ready to be attacked by a pitbull.

oh ide totally help. id find a way. i remember when my dog was about a year and a half. real ready to dominate other dogs. well one day this girl came along with her rottweiler and the dog ran up to me and my dog( her dog wasnt on a leash i might add) well there we were her dog to the left of me and my dog was on the right. there i was stuck in the middle. some times i think the reason why people dont do any thing is because of the fastness of the situation and the shock. well this chick was frozen and while the dogs are staring eachother down ready to tear into another all she did was just stand there. then i said would you get your f%^$^ing dog.and she anapped out of it and got control. there are fast thinker and then there are slow ignorant thinkers and by saying ignorant i mean she should have had that beast on a freaking leash in the first place. hear that people. keep you dogs on leashes .thanks.

I would definitely help. Even if it meant killing the Pit Bull. A child's life is more important.

I would find a very large hard object hopefully a bat and hit him with everything I had in me. I would keep swinging till the bull stop cause I would hope to stop him. Then I would be so worked up that I would cry and hope to help the child or person who has been attacked

This is a set-up question... either the answer is "assuming I have my trusty shotgun I'd send the mutt back to where it came from"... or "I'd get the authorities as soon as possible because I don't believe in harming animals".
Actually, this falls into the "Good Samaritan" law that some places use... if you try and be Superman you get either fined/ticketed or arrested for it... so, to stay safe... ignore the whole situation.
