I've been pretty stressed out lately and I took a bath to give me time to relax, wind down, and think. I used an Avon, "Skin-So-Soft" bath oil and took a bath for 25 minutes to relax.

Then I drained hte tub, rinsed it, and took a shower to actually get clean and shower, since baths(especially with a little bit of oil - about 1 teaspoon like the bottle said) don't clean you, just open the pores.

I got out and as I was getting dressed, I noticed my areola's seem bigger. I was thinking it's just that my skin is absorbed with water and oils and it will go away.. but so far it hasn't gone away.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
Do you think it WILL go away and it's just a temporary thing?

I'm worried and freaking out of it.

I feel so unstable.

I'm not pregnant, and I've already had my period.

You have me a bit perplexed. I have noticed that if I take a warm bath the color will change but it returns to normal within a few hours. I do notice a change around my time of the month and even sometimes when I am aroused, but it's only a temporary thing. I am not sure that I see the problem. If it's not life threatening then I say don't stress

How much bigger?

I've never heard of a bath or any kind of bath oil expanding the areola. I certainly can't think of anything that would do it in the half hour you were in the tub. Usually it's a stretching action that does it, like nursing or weight gain.

If you're retaining water or your breasts have recently gone up in size (due to weight gain or the pill), you might just be noticing it now. Otherwise I'm stumped.

This is just an educated guess, but I think that the hot bath caused some vasodilation (opening up blood vessels) which caused the areola to become engorged. (It got more blood to it than usual)

My guess is that it WILL go away. It may take hours to do so, though.

Don't stress out about it. Even if you go to a doctor, what are they going to do, but say, "We'll need to keep an eye on that"

If you have a problem like that on one side but not the other, then you need to be concerned. It's so cool that God gave us two of many body parts, so we can compare them to see if one is abnormal!

Chill out and relax.

I'm not sure about enlarging, but I do know they darken when pregnant. Or maybe you are getting ready to start your period. If you are really worried, talk to your doctor.
