I pre-ordered it, and showed up at midnight to pick it up on release day. A lot of people showed up that night to buy it WITHOUT a pre-order. There were enough copies for everyone that showed up, plus enough to cover the next day or two.. but then the supply dried up for a few days.

It DOES depend on where you check though, my best friend couldn't get a copy on opening night, and went to two places the next day before he tracked down a copy of the collectors edition.

The regular version didn't sell out at all around here in the Tampa, Florida area.

well, I'm not sure about how long and stuff, but I do remember buying halo 2 a few days (maybe a week) after it came out at target.

When Halo 2 came out Microsoft and Bungie new it was going to be big because of how well Halo the original went so they made alot more and shipped them out. They were pretty glad they did because that game is krazy good. I'm a gamer girl I love tat game it is awesome to play it on xbox live....

It was highly dependent on where you lived. In most stores it was sold out but shipments came quickly and it was able to keep itself on store shelves after about a week of sold out-ness. hehe, it is a great game.
