Because I think that because he lived there he should be even stronger than he is without kyrptonite. What do you thinik?

sorry for all of the people giving you stupid answers......
It is because Superman was a refugee from the now-gone planet of krypton. Kyryton was a mineral there that that had adverse, bad effects on Kyrytonians like superman.....see as superman is a kryptonian... villains news this and would use it against him.....this had no affect on regular people though, just kyryptonians.

You know originally Superman couldn't fly only leap really big, thus "leap over a building in a single bound" as opposed to " Holy $%!# that dude can fly!" as his comic went on he got stronger and well pretty much a god. So how do you kill a god? Apparently with a green rock, on Krypton it would be like uranium, only funny in small doses. It in a way nullifies the energy that he has stored up from the sun, thus why is becomes human (on krypton no one was super powered because they had a red sun) different types of radiation do different things same with kryptonite red negates his inhibitions, blue I think is like Viagra and makes him randy and those tights just a little tighter!

When the Planet Krypton exploded the fragments underwent a radioactive change. This radioactivity affects Superman faster then it does humans. It is kind of like how Plutonium slowly kills normal people. Only Kryptonite works much faster on Superman.
