as of Monday August 31, 1998 Projections have the world population hitting six billion sometime around the middle of next year. Beyond that, it's hard to give you an exact answer.

It's somewhere around 6.5 billion. The U.S. just passed the 300 million mark. I know it's under 7 billion with out a doubt.
