I don't remember the author, but it was a short story. It's told in first person, and the main character was a psycho serial killer. The whole time he's telling stories of his murders and you know he's just a complete lunatic.
Near the end he suddenly addresses YOU and says something like, "...and so ends my story. I watched you pick up this book, and I followed you home. I'm hiding in this room right now. I've been waiting for you to finish, because when you put this book down, I'm going to kill you."
SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH! Even though I was reading the book with my grandparents in the same room at the time, I was still terrified to put the book down!

The Elementals by Michael McDowell. Of course, the first time I read it, I was still a teenager, but I've since bought a used copy. It still gives me the creeps.

I would have to say "It" by Stephen King. I had recently watched the movie, and that totally freaked me out. I don't even know what possessed me to read the book. This was extremely graphic. I attribute the reading of this book to my newfound fear of clowns. I always thought people were crazy when they said they were freaked out by clowns, but this book did it for me!
