NO! In the words of one of my professors (who was a good friend of David Wechsler, creator of the most popular intelligence tests the WISC and WAIS), "the only thing that intelligence tests measure is how well you do on intelligence tests"! IQ accounts for only about 20% of the variance of how successful people are in life--that means 80% is due to other factors. Howard Gardner had the concept of "multiple intelligences" meaning that there are lots of different ways people can be "intelligent": verbally, interpersonally, artistically, athletically, etc. It is true that IQ predicts how well you do in school (to an extent), but that's because a lot of the subtests on intelligence tests relate to material that you have learned in school. Thus, individuals who do well in school ultimately end up doing well on IQ tests.

Honestly in my opinion I dont think so. When your at school learning you learn facts from the past and things you will use in life. I took an I.Q test and it was just like a brain teaser. The S.A.T.'s will show you how smart you are though.

Yes, it proves how they are able to apply logic on a intellectual level. Different than real-life and common sense... but there is no correlation(negative correlation) between common sense and intelligence, as some people think there is. I've met people with common sense and intelligence, and I've met people with neither.

No. In my anthropology class, we were just studying how IQ tests don't give accurate results because they are usually biased. There are many facets to one's intelligence, and it's impossible to test all of them in a simple test.

tests can be misleading, they can show ones ability to do well on tests but do not take into account social interaction. They are one of many way to compare intelligence but, not the last word on determining if one is intelligent
