In the short tern not much it just created different work done by working and middle class. In the long term term it present more opportunities, which created competition for labor and creativity those with creativity found more chances to move into middle or upper class, but competition for labor allowed the birth of labor unions, which helped huge numbers of people move into middle class. You can see the opposite happening today as automation, very poor trade policies and excessive immigration combine to lower completion for labor.
