Are you enjoying it?

I've just finished reading the 'Otori Trilogy' by Lian Hearn. It was a very well written parody of ancient Japan and the political and religious elements of the culture at the time. I'm now reading 'Utterly Monkey' by Nick Laird.

I've set aside my library card for a while to rediscover my own library... fiction-wise I've been on a comic book kick lately. Just finished re-reading Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic (a pre-Harry Potter boy wizard story, truly a magical read) and am planning on re-reading the Preacher series by Garth Ennis (a story of a Texas preacher who has visions of John Wayne and runs off seeking adventure with his gun-toting girlfriend and a vampire named Cassidy).

In the realm of non-fiction, I'm busy keeping up with the candidates and issues that will appear on my ballot next Tuesday. This story is full of scandal and deception and sadly I'm not fond of the characters or the plot. I sure hope it's got a happy ending.

Liann Hearn's The Tales of The Otori trilogy was a fairly good read, although technically it's not a trilogy anymore since they just released the 4th book.

Currently 1/5th into Life Expectation by Dean Koontz, it's a bit slow-going.

I truly enjoyed the Hearn trilogy too. I'm currently reading Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian, which is enlarging my education on the Ottoman empire and vampire legends (I'm not one into horror, so when I recommend this book it is because it is well written, and covers a pretty ghastly historical figure (Dracula) in a way which isn't stomach-turning)! Because I can't seem to just have one book going at the same time I'm also reading Larry McMurtry's Telegraph Days, which is one of his western novels.

As usual, I'm reading three books at a time, trying to finish all the book I haven't read yet but already bought this sem break.

Purgatario by Dante Alighieri
The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl
The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice

And I'm gonna start on the 3rd book of Cirque Du Freak, which I finish in a day at the very most.

The Innocent Man:Murder And Injustice In A Small Town by John Grisham. It's a very good book.

I am reading the Godfather by Mario Puzo. It constitutes the basic story of the Godfather trilogy and gives an insight into why Michael becomes the man he is at the time of his death. It is a fact that sometimes, fate chooses us and not the other way around. A strong man chooses what is best for his family and friends.
