other than that there;s also the whole morally right/wrong issue...it makes you a cheater, stealer, lier

a girl named Kaavya Vishwanthan or something like that was in college and was given a multimilliion dollar deal to write 2 books to be plublished and she copied like exact quotes from her favorite novels. she went to jail for a short amount of time but more importantly she has had her name everywhere but not for a good reason.

Its a federal offense. It can bring hefty fines and maybe prison time. Not to mention whatever the organization it was written for does.

In an academic setting if you're caught, you'll flunk. On the job, you could lose your job, or at the very least, your credibiblity and reputation.
