Can any one identify a probable theme and explain what clues the author gives that helps the reader to receive the message.

the theme of the story was that if you tell the truth to begin with then you would not have as many problems. i read this story in the 10th grade and i don't remember the clues. funny cause i am only in the 11th grade

woa we just read this at my school..its about a woman who feels bad for herself b/c she is poor and she thinks she should be rich and then she borrows a neckalce from her rich friend for a party and then she loses it and ends up working the rest of her life so she can pay for the new necklace she buys her friend but it turns out the old necklace was just cheap glass and the gurl payed a bunch of money for the new necklace. i think the theme is dont feel bad for urself and just be truthful idk the clues or anything
