Good Q..I don't know (have wondered that myself for many years)..but I DO know he actually was discovered whilst singing in a Gay Club, as support to Bette' Midler.

I have been receiving a few of E-mails from people, asking where I found the information that Barry Manilow is Gay. I can't actually recall. But there is no doubt about his sexual preferences. No, but his music draws a big gay following. He got his start in show business writing jingles, then playing piano for Bette Midler before making it big on his own. Many of her gay fans spilled over to being fans as well of his. Both acts have a big gay following.

Last I heard, Yes. There's a gay club in Palm Springs he frequents...friend of mine tends bar there & has seen him.
