My grandpa had built a train for my brother and I when I was 7 years old. It went around the 10 acre backyard that they had. One day I was riding it alone, and my grandpa was working way down in the backyard, where he couldn't see me. I was coming around a turn right next to their pond, and a piece of the track had bent and the train derailed and fell in the pond (with me in it). My grandpa couldn't see the pond from where he was, so he didn't notice, and I was stuck under the train halfway in the water and it was sinking. I was screaming and finally he heard me and came running...by then I was underwater and unconscious. He pulled me out and gave me CPR. Thankfully I wasn't underwater for long and I regained consciousness. They still took me to the ER though...I'd say it was one of the scariest days of my life!

1) Drunken parent comes home
2) Parent verbally, emotionally or mentally berating and abusing child on a regular basis.
3) Physical abuse, hitting the children with belts, baseball bats, or whatever is handy.
4) Sexual abuse, the parent, uncle, or sibling sexually assaulting children for many years.
5) Parent(s) chaining the refrigerator shut so that the kids can't get anything to eat that day or week.

Getting into the lift of a department store as a child aged 4 yrs, believing my family were just behind me. Watching a stranger press the button for the top floor. Seeing the doors close as I realised my panic-stricken Mother and Father were on the other side...and thinking in that moment I would never see them again.
Luckily, I sat on a sofa in the furniture dept and waited until my Dad found me. Brainy Child!!

I was always scared of being left alone for some reason as a toddler. I'd constantly at night climb out of my bed and crawl into my parents rooms to make sure they would be there. One night my mom was at work late and my father must have ran out real quick to the store, and I was scared and thought that they had left me. I was pretty scared, but my dad came home soon and put my back in my bed. I think to this day, I have a hard time being alone...

Yes, I needed to get some paperwork from my husband's boss who is from the Middle East, but has lived and owned this business in America for more than 15 years. Anyway, I went to my husband's job to pick up the paperwork and I noticed that after seeing me the boss was talking, waving his hands around and looking pissed off. He was talking to another man (not my husband) and then the other guy comes out to me and says... "Mr So-and-so can't talk to you...but the paperwork isn't here yet." I said, "Is there a problem with it? Why can't he talk to me?" The guy looked embarrassed and said real low... "You are a woman, he can't talk business with a ......woman!" I was like, What?? I'm over 50 yrs old...I have many many stories that can illustrate misogynist attitudes. But I'll spare you. :-)

1939 Worlds Fair. I was 4 years old. Parents treated me to an elephant ride, and I was placed by myself in a basket over which I could not see and tossed, bounced and jerked around as the elephant was paraded around. My shrieks went unheard.

Is that a question or a request. I had one when I was 8 years old. We were bootlegging and one drunk pulled a gun on another one and accused him of stealing his wallet I thought he was goint to shoot the guy. Turns out he was just an idiot. My brothers should never have let that idiot into our house while he was armed.

When I was seven years old, and lived in northern France, my friends and I went into underground tunnels underneath a 12th Gothic catheral. It was pitched dark and I got lost.. My friends were playing games by pretending not to hear me.

When I was 6 yrs. old, my dad and oldest brother thought it would be funny to put an ugly rubber mask and my mom's ugly fur coat in my bed. I screamed hysterically when I went to bed as they laughed hysterically. Guess we know now why I'm messed up! lol
