I'm a couple of weeks pregnant and my pubic bone goes through these periods where it's pretty uncomfortable and achy. I remember mine being sore with my first baby but that wasn't until the third trimester. Why so soon on this baby? It's pretty annoying.

A pregnant woman produces a hormone called "Relaxin". It softens up the ligaments in the body. There is a very large ligament that connects the two halves of the pubic bone.

Normally, this ligament should not be soft. However, the ligament gets soft during pregnancy, presumably to widen the pelvic outlet. This may cause stretching of this ligament and thus it is being "pulled".

It usually resolves a few weeks after delivery.

Ok it has somthing to do with a hormone your body only produces when your pregnant. I can't think of the name of it but it starts with an "R". What it does is softens your pubic bone so that there is no breakage during labor. The soreness is usually caused by over exertion.

My friend who is pregnant has split her pubic bone from there being too much weight around that area... Maybe you have done something like this too?

Wish I knew why and the cure!! It is annoying isn't it?!?! I'm 12 weeks pg and go days w/out it, then all of sudden, it's back! Today, for example. :( Maybe it's because it's not your first (or mine, I'm on #3) and the body is just falling apart faster. ;) Who knows, but if you find out, let me know, will ya?!?! Congrats on the new baby.

I actually just talked to my doctor today regarding this same thing. She said that it is absolutely normal to experience spasms and even cramps during the 1st month of your pregnancy. She said it is your body adjusting. I wouldn't be concerned unless it becomes extremely painful or u begin to spot. best wishes!

I hate that! I feel like that when I'm on my period too... sorry though I have no idea why. I always describe it as a feeling like I fell off a guys bike that was too tall for me!

In my experience, after the first pregnancy certain symptoms seem to come sooner with subsequent pregnancies. I was told this by my ObGyn. My best advice to you would be to call your doctor and ask him/her if this is normal for your pregnancy.
