Hi - my wife had the same thing. It was no big deal. They added something (I think it was an antibiotic) to her IV drip and everything was fine.

Stop reading all the "What to Expect ..." books. They should be called "All the crap that could go wrong, but won't really happen"

Don't worry. I tested positive with my first, they just put you on antibiotics during delivery. I am now pregnant with my third baby. My first two were very healthy, and I am hoping the same for this one. The only thing is, that when/if you have another baby you HAVE to tell your doctor about it. You could test negative for it in the future, but still have it. Make sure that you tell your doctor in the future.

i was group b strep positive with my daughter, it worried me to at first but the OB assured me that the only thing that would be different about my delivery is that i would have IV antibiotics as well as a saline drip. the antibiotics were to help prevent the spread of it to my baby. My daughter was perfectly healthy aside from a broken collar bone! if you continue to be so worried then talk to your OB about it next time you go and address your concerns with them, sometimes just talking about it will help! Good Luck and Congrats!

I had it with my last baby. She is 16 months old now. They give you two little bags of antibiotics in your IV during labor. It isn't too big a deal. She was TOTALLY healthy. Still is in fact. Weighed in at 8 pounds. Just make sure you let them know when you go into labor that you tested positive so they can give you the antibiotics. Good luck.

it won't affect the baby's health the baby is only at risk when coming thru the vagina if it's not detected. You just get a i.v antibotic while your in labor all wil be a-ok. Your doctor should have told you that. IT'S pretty common to have a + group b strep test that's why every pregnant women is tested because it's so common.

My little brother had it when he was born and my mom never even had a positive test for it. He was in the hospital for a week and then went home completely healthy. It all depends on how strong the baby is. You should talk to your doctor about all of the side effects.

Its not a big deal. All they will do is give you antibiotics through the IV while your in Labor and your baby will be fine. My friend had this 2 times. Dont worry.

I did, I had to watch my contractions, even if you doubt your in labor but are having contractions go to the hospital! They can put you on iv antibiotics and when the baby is born they will also give him/her antibiotics as well. But you need to know that if you don't get to the hospital in time it could be harmful for the baby. Talk to your doctor about this, and about your concerns. He/she will be able to give you the best advice. Good luck and congrats.

This should be no big deal if you follow the advice of your OB. Better to know if you are positive so you can get the meds. This happened to my friend. She was told to be at hospital within one hour of water breaking so that they could giver her antibiotics to prevent any problems for the baby. all was fine for her and the baby.

Take care and good luck.

Yes it is normal to have this. I had it with both of my children, you should be given IV antibiotics while in labor as it will cause the baby to have respitory problems if not treated during labor. Both of my children were healthy when they were born. It is nothing to be concerned with.
