I would like to say, We all go to join our loved ones that have left us to go on to the heaven's above. and wait for the big day of judgment day and the BIG BOOK is opened a read from with our names in it to say where we all go from there. However I have had a near death experience happen twice before, all I saw was the bright light, We all think we will see, ohhhh SO true..... It is. anyway I would like to be able to tell more about this, however, I think we go to rest, until our BIG DAY comes.
May God BLESS us all !

I answered this a few days ago, when Deepak Chopra posted it.
The soul returns from the extra-dimensional place from whence it came.
Edit:
Here is Chopra's choice. I know this guy that Chopra picked.

RIGHT AFTER WE DIE,OUR LIFE FLASHES B4 OUR EYES.
THEN WE SEE JESUS FOR A GLIMPSE,AS A REASSURANCE OF OUR FAITH.
NEXT WE GO INTO A STATE OF SLEEP.
WE WILL NOT REUNITE WITH JESUS UNTIL THE RESURRECTION.
THIS IS BASED ON MY KNOWLEDGE OF BIBLE SCRIPTURE.
God Bless
