I think it's because we feel it's us the motorist being taken for a ride by the Governement.
We have been paying increased fuel duty on the 'green price escalator' for a number of years as we were told the polluter must pay. We moaned and grumbled, sometimes protested, but all the same paid up.
We are now told yet again that we are causing damage to the environment and must pay, but hold on a mo. You told us that 10 years ago and we have been paying you ever since! Why are they trying this one on again? Sod that for a lark. You might have got away with it first time but you are trying to take money twice giving exactly the same reason!

extremely precise. besides the shown fact that, the fee will no longer be in easy terms £50. individuals are actually not completely stupid. If Mr. Hardup is conscious of that his old banger is properly worth £2K to Mr. Fatcat the haggling will initiate around with regard to the £1K mark and pass up/down from there watching the provision & call for challenge. the persons who will rather income are the vehicle-breakers with yards packed with wrecks, many with modern-day tax discs. they only might desire to circulate paper possession to the customer, then get the better employer of putting off the vehicle besides. Which fool theory this scheme up? P.S. word to those who wisely factor out it quite is beneficial have owned your banger for a 300 and sixty 5 days to the touch the £2K. there is an undemanding way around this. Mr. Hardup, or Messrs. Floggit & Leggit, scrap sellers, are the nominees, having owned the destroy for a 300 and sixty 5 days. Mr. Fatcat will pay for the recent vehicle (and takes transport) then "buys" it from the nominal proprietor, relinquishing the destroy to be scrapped. assume some scams like this to strengthen.

Ah, the environment..., it's a good money spinnter, isn't it. When more money's required to house more asylum seekers, you can just put more tax on petrol, or tax anyone who even dares get around with anything other than a bicycle or non-existant public transport. Tell the pople that it's so that we don't end up cooking ourselves to death in a feew year's time, and anyone objecting to such tax rises can be condemned as a selfish waster, or something.
I'm fed-up of explaining the anti-car/anti-meat/anti/fun people and all teh rest who hark on about so-called 'global warming', this site explains them all fairly well:

i reckon they use the green issue to cover up tax increases. take the recent parking charges to be introduced in richmond. if they had said " were gonna increase charges by 170% " people would be in uproar. instead they say "increase everyones' charges in relation to how economical there car is" -- everyones arguing over being penalised at having a big car.. with some you lose sympathy(because your an enviromental disaster !!!) wouldn't seem so hypicritical if the mp's werent driving monsters around themselves.. the ones that drive small ones are annoying (you know they do it for the cameras and have got a different vehicle sitting at home) grggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-- you av got me ranting
