What i mean is: Why do humans feel the need to be accepted?
Everyone wants to be accepted by some one, on some level so don't give me that crap about, "I don't care what people think, be like me." Every one does to some extent.
What is it about humans, that we want that; to be accepted?

Perhaps it's the primal feeling of security, that deep down inside being accepted by a group means that you now have a network of people who will look out for you, agree with you and care for you. Humans are altruistic creatures, so being in a group guarantees that someone will be there for support.
It also feels good to be in a supportive, nurturing collective. People get a natural high from being liked, wanted and loved.

In this day and age because others express that being cool was cool, so people set out to try which only makes them look stupid.
Now not to confuse that with saying that the pursuit of being accepted to stupid, just the way some people go about it.
The urge to be accepted is something all creatures have, the urge is either less or expressed in a different way.
Animals wish to be accepted cause it would mean a better chance at survival.
Human beings wish to be accepted cause it gives us security and the knowledge that out existence has some validity.
Those who do not pursue acceptance quite as dedicated as others might feel as if their existence is validated or they are comfortable in their position in life and who they are.

It is very important for human being survival to set up communities and establish durable or long lasting bonds between them. Some time ago people would show off hunting or building skills as to prove the community they tried to live in in they were worth having. Now things are far more complicated. When you are cool you have the money to keep up with it, and that would imply you would have enough money to provide for your partner. We need to be cool just because we need to be loved and find a place in the community we intend to live in.

It is a characteristic of humanity, a property of humanity if you will. Nature of the beast and all that. A wise one said " It is not good for man to be alone."If you are accepted than you won't be alone.

Cool is billion dollars catchword for marketers amd corporations.They are well aware how much humans want to be accepted by others, so they exploit that by using the word cool to sell, sell, sell.

Oh, I've given up triying to look cool, but I still care about what others think about me.
Having people accept you makes you feel a lot better about yourself, I guess.

Because they are afraid of being alone.
Or because they need to be accepted in society, so they can get a job and have money to live.

It's just how we were made. Everyone want's to be accepted and liked by everyone. It's just our natural thing that we do.

if your not accepted by the crowd then your on the outer...and that is harder...personally I've always been on the outer and cool for living there...lol...
