id try to rewrite the whole thing like this:
without any warning a shrill screech cut through the night air like a knife through butter. the alarming sound caused me to leap to the air and arouse feelings of wretched paranoia. As i stared behind my shoulder i noticed a dark shadow increasing in size with each passing second. my heart raced, my blood pulsed, i felt the surge in my legs and i ran for my life!! Screaming and yelling the whole way.
