What does this mean? I can just bend them back really far. It looks like they are going to snap.. is this rare?... or normal?.. is it unsafe?

Hyperextension means your knees go beyond straight...ie rather than having your knees move through 0-130 degrees, your may move from -5-130 (as an example).

There are different reasons for hyperextension such as compensation for overly tight heel cords, liagmentous laxity, or compensation due to weakness of the the quadriceps/hamstrings.

It is not rare, but it can be pathological...leading to overstress of tendons and ligaments and making one more prone to injury.

Hyperextending your knees is when you extend them beyond your normal range of movement. It can result in a pretty bad injury.

yes hyperextend knees means you can bend them really far. I suggest you dont do it, since it is a risk for bone breakage, and sprained kneecaps.

It's fairly common in younger people whose bones are still soft and pliable. You'll likely grow out of it.

it means you can bend them back very far, they could be unstable in extreem situations, it is unusal but not unknown
