Words are meant for people to communicate, to express themselves. I don't understand why some words should be banned. Words are used all the time and banned words are used all the time. There is no reason to ban them from our children.

Words remain banned for the same reason women don't go topless. Anything that is constantly placed before you and is not illegal or immoral soon becomes boring and taken for granted.

Another angle is that if the present words words were removed from the banned list, we would have to work to invent a new set that can be banned so they'll have shock value.

And as one old classic of a song says--quite innocently--"and will all have a gay old time. A favorite of the Gay 90's (1890.)

A long time ago, when North America was British, the culture of NA was also British. At that time, the British people wanted to be really dignified, and that sort of meant covering up your body as much as possible, so sex was a taboo thing, and all words relating to sex were also. Now, sex is still viewed as a dirty, evil thing, but not as much anymore.

In France, people were religious, so all their swear words had to do with religion when said outside of church.

In a world devoid of morality, you'd be right on point. However, in a world grounded in morality, there are right and wrong. Often, definitions of right and wrong pointedly exclude words that cause panic or incite violence.
