I am playing a gig on Halloween, the theme of which is Tragic Deaths...
Should I dress as;
A. someone hung with a belt?
B. someone crushed to death in lift doors?
or
C. someone who has died of a non-descript drugs overdose?
This theme is only marginally better than Suicide Deaths.

I would not do it b/c you might really offend some one at a party or something. If you lost someone that way and had to I.D. the body you would never want to see a mockery of it.
But getting to your question, drug overdose would look stupid unless you were passed out on the floor or something. Someone was just crushed to death in elevator doors around here so I could not suggest that. Being hung would be the creepiest I think, especially if you get like red contacts and some sort of makeup for your face to make it look deprived of O2.
Seriously consider what you are doing, you seem like a nice person and you really don't want to remind someone of a tragedy in their past.

Someone crushed to death in lift doors, because that would be a "tragic death". The other two are simply suicides--nothing tragic at all, only stupidity.

I think the creepiest is B, but that grosses me out so much that I think you should dress as A.
Plus, I don't know how you would plan to dress, but B might be kind of hard to portray. You might end up with a lot of people asking "What are you supposed to be?"
A is the most straightforward.

(A) might be easier but if you did the makeup right, (C) would definately be more creepy. Foaming at the mouth, odd skin coloring, etc.
