Absolutely they do (behave differently in groups).
Because in a group, most people want to fit in and be accepted. Sometimes, depending on the person, one may want to stand out and be in the "lime-light." Consequently, they'll engage in certain behaviors that bring attention to themselves. I think this is especially true in adolescents and teenagers. To prove it, just watch how teenagers behave when they have a substitute teacher. Do they behave the same way one-on-one with the substitute as they do when the entire class is in their midst? Off course they don't, except for the very few who are secure and O.K. with who they are.

I agree because different groups do different things (behave differently) and have different rules to follow within them. When you're by yourself you can be whoever you want to be and not act like the others in your group. In other words, you can be who you are without influences from other people. Everyone does this, just watch people.

I agree. People will behave differently even if there is only one other person by the side. In fact, any kind creature in the animal world would.

I agree to some extent. A person comfortable with him/herself expresses that equally in private and public. However, people are governed by the social codes and ethics when in group settings. i.e. you can burp w/o saying excuse me or flip a booger out of your nose and let it land on the floor when alone, but would you really do that in a group setting? ...I hope not.

Yes, they call it groupthink. It's a sociological phenomenon. And I believe it's true. People in a group act more bravely, because they know, or think they know that people will back them up.
