It all depends on the baby. I had my little girl at 34 weeks and she was in the hospital for a total of 10 days. They did tell me she would have to stay in the hospital until her due date, but she got strong fast and they let her go home after 10 days =o) I hope if you have your baby now you get the same luck!

34 weeks is considered pre-term, your babies lungs are not going to be mature enough to go home. The baby will most likely stay in the NICU for 4-6 weeks and risks having long term lung problems, such as asthma and RSV(respiratory distress disorder). Try to keep the baby in as long as you can, it's best for your newborn.

It depends on the weight of the baby and how developed the lungs are. I had my last child at 35 weeks and we stayed in the hospital 4 days because I had a C-section and he was 5lbs. 4oz

My ffriend had her son at 35 weeks and he had to be in the hospital for 6 weeks. Best to just stay pregnant till 38-40 weeks.

It depends....my baby was born at 36 weeks and he got to go home with me three days later. I think they usually keep the babies until their original due date, unless the baby is doing exceptionally well OR is having more difficult problems. Good luck!

there are too many variables for even a physician to
give you an answer until the child is actually born and
can be examined. i know you feel like you have already
been pregnant forever, but the nearer you can carry
the baby to your actual due date the better for both
your sakes.

it's possible that he/she will for a few weeks. at 34 weeks it is highly unlikely that your baby will be able to cope with life outside of the womb. his/her lungs probably aren't mature, there's not enough fat on the child to help regulate temperature (and they have enough probs with that as it is!) . just be careful.

Why would you want to have your baby early and risk him being in the NICU for 4-6 weeks or even longer?
