Just about.

After an abortion you may need a D&C to clean it all out properly.'

No a D and C is not the same as an abortion. A D and C or a dilation and curettage is where a woman's cervix is dilated, and excess lining of the uterus is scrapped off with an instrument called a curettage. This procedure is generally done on women who have an incomplete miscarriage or have irregular periods due to excess uterine material,

Dilation and curettage is the name of a proceedure that means scraping of the uterus lining. D&C is sometimes used for an abortion, sometimes used for other reasons mentioned here. So although it is not the same as abortion, it can be used for that purpose.
Other methods used for abortion are suction, or introducing a saline solution into the uterus.

No a D&C is not an abortion although the procedure is similar. It is used to clean out the uterus of left over stuff after a woman has a miscarriage. If left in there the woman will get an infection or even die of hemorrage.

A D&C is seldom done as a lone procedure anymore. It is most frequently done as an adjunct procedure to a hysteroscopy and/or polypectomy. A D&C is often used for the following conditions:
~Irregular bleeding
~Too much bleeding
~Fibroids and polyps
~Endometrial cancer
~Therapeutic D&C

Your health care provider will avoid D&C in the following situations, except when absolutely necessary:
~Pelvic infection
~Blood clotting disorders
~Serious medical problems

~Remove tissue that may remain after a miscarriage.
~Remove tissue in the uterus that may be causing abnormal vaginal bleeding. The tissue can then be examined to see if there are any abnormalities.
~Remove tissue that may remain after a vacuum aspiration abortion.
~Control heavy uterine bleeding.

Depends... what are the circumstances surrounding the D&C, why does she need one?
I had a Dilation and Curettage for having a molar pregnancy, there was no baby present. If used on a normal pregnant woman than yes it could be considered an abortion. But in 99% and my case it was not!

Somewhat. Dilation and curettage is the scraping of the uterus lining. Some abortions are preformed this way.
Usually a D & C is done to stop excess bleeding.

No, the medical term for D/C is Dilation & Courtage<---spelled wrong, or some women goog on D/C and call it a dusting and cleaning, which means that the doctor will do an out patient procedure to clean the lining of the uterus after miscarriages, or other tramatic thing.

No it is not. A D&C is an operational procedured performed to clean the uterus after a miscarriage. An abortion is actually killing the living fetus.
