It should be, you can't hardly call a proffessional without being connected through someone overseas. They work for far less money than you can make here.
Before she died, my sister in law made around 60,000 a year in Louisville KY doing just that, and they finally let her work from home on one of their machines! Yes, she was greased lightning on her machine.

Hi, it's not too good to be true. Also, I DID train at home to work at home ! I trained w/ an online school that had an internship program and have done very well. You "can" go through a community college program but let me explain the issue w/ that- some community college programs for MT are okay, but others are not good. The dictation practice is very important and quality dictation is very expensive, more expensive than each individual student could afford, so there are only two options for community colleges, but really good dictation in the computer labs on campus and have students do it there (and there just isn't enough time to do a great deal of it in one semester while taking other classes), or go w/ a cheaper dictation practice like the Hillcrest or Forrest tapes or a book that comes w/ a CD. The online school that you are considering has a lot of good dictation practice and they have a good reputation in the MT industry. There are also other good online schools to consider and price compare. Most MT employers know who the top MT schools are and hire out of their programs. Choose a school that has an internship or at least has made agreements w/ MT services to hire their graduates. This is very important. Good luck to you.

Well, i wouldn't say it is a booming career. But, ya lots of opportunity does present itself in this career which people accept as a chance to grow.
