It honestly depends, it's it's a good perfomance and not just a guy flounting around in a dress tip em a couple of bucks, but be kind, tip each performer at least a buck. Most Drag Queens take their tips and generally give them out to worth while GLBT charities. I know in DC, most of the drag queens give most if not all their tips to BHT, Whitman Walker, Grandma's House, Pediatric AIDS HIV Care INC. just to name a few.

Most people tip a dollar or two, some people only tip certain drag queens, and some hardly tip at all. Usually, if you are close to the stage and the drag queen comes close to you they are looking for a tip. If you like the song and like the performance, go ahead and give a tip (and someone watching the show may take notice of you when you are up by the spotlight). The drag queen could have been looking at someone in your general direction, so probably was not looking at you.

Well, it's like this, I don't like drag shows, I find them boring. If I am going to sit near the stage(something I try to avoid like the plague) I keep a few ones to tip with if and only if it is a Good song and a Good performance. Contrary to what others have said, having worked in a few bars in the past, Drag performers ARE paid although the money isn't that much(and there is usually a show director as well that decides who is going to be members of the regular cast, special guests, and so on) but considering how the entire bar seems to stop and revolve around the show, if I don't like it, I don't tip. A "Pro" will NOT try to make you part of the performance, will NOT get nasty if you don't tip, and little known fact, will "seed" the crowd with a few friends to "give" her back her own money just to get others to start tipping.

Drag Queens are usually unpaid performers. Its expensive to be a Drag Queen, and many rely on tips to survive. If you are sitting near the stage and not tipping, then you are taking up valuable space that someone a bit more generous can take. No wonder you were getting dirty looks.
For a basic performance, tip a buck. For something well done or special, tip $5. For someone outstanding $10 and up is appropriate.

If you want to tip, usually it's a single dollar at a time. How many times you go up is up to you, but it IS common courtesy to let the people who have tips go to the front (hence the dirty looks, I'd guess).

Dude, I gave up $200.00 in the course of two nights.
Most people will give a dollar here or there. Some will give $5.00.
If they are REALLY REALLY good at what they do. And that is your thing. Then wouldn't you tip a waiter or waitress 15% plus a little more?

a buck is enough. usually there is more than one performing and more can get expensive. Also you don't have to tip at all if you particularly care for their performance.
