It is only good for "charging" a dead battery, and it amy take several hours to get it up enough to start the car (the battery on it's own - without the "jumper wire"). It takes maybe 150-200 amps minimum to start a car with dead battery. Even the cheap "jumper cables" designed to go from one battery to another can't carry enough amps if the battery is completely dead! They will start smoking after a minute or so, - if cranked sontinueously! Now the one from the cigarette lighter will carry maybe 20 amps, before it starts burning the insulation off the wire!
So remember to leave the booster cables from one car to another on the batteries at least 5-10 minutes before you try to start the car!!!!!!!

You can't jump start a car that way. All those things do is to charge the dead battery. You need to leave them hooked up for an hour or so. The cheap ones will just blow the lighter fuse.
It takes hundreds of amps to start the car. The most you can send through a lighter outlet is 20.

I would not recommend it. It might charge the battery without blowing the fuse but don't try to start it. Unplug it first. It works like very small jumper cables that plug into both cars cigarette lighters.

I never heard. I don't think it would be safe though because you'd have no ground. Therefore it shouldnt even work. Was it made for that?? If you can't get at your battery you could always connect the positve plug of jumper cables to the fuse box and the negative to the engine mounts.

There is no way that the cigarette lighter circuit can carry enough current to jump start a vehicle. Now, I say this because my definition of jump start is to cause the disabled vehicle to immediately start. This is, however, a method of causing the disabled battery to recover more quickly - like a trickle charger.

Greetings!
Someone gave me one of those things as a gift. Then came an opportunity to start a car and I did not have cables.
Wow it works fine. You just have to let it go for a few minutes till the light goes out.
Since then I have used it several times with no problems.
Good Luck

NO It IS NOT SAFE !! The wire-ring harness for the lighter can only hold 30 amps of drain safely. To jump off the average car takes 540 amps of draw (drain). Please do not try that.

If the vehicle is off, and the mild on the charger cable is off, it actual would not drain the battery in any respect. There are some autos the place the accessory plug is stay regardless of the vehicle off, yet whilst the mild is going off once you swap off the vehicle, it extremely is not any longer on, and regardless of if it extremely is not any longer on, it can't drain the battery in any way.
