I see so many questions asking why black people can use the word, but white people can't, why it is so offensive, why blacks are so sensitive when a person other than a black says it, how it's not a big deal and just a word, and all kinds of other questions. And they are always white people asking this. Why are they so fasicinated with the word, and why would they ever want to use it? Just because they made it up? Is that why? Just curious.

Well, the blacks feel that they are entitled to use it because of their history with the world (slavery, etc.) and that justifies them saying it. However, over time, it is being thrown around too easily and so the original meaning might have become lost in usage. Nonetheless, that word is very offensive and I don't think that anyone should use it. I do feel that if blacks use it, they are gaining power over the word. However, when it turns into something so casual, I think that something is wrong with the picture here.

good question i guess! im white my kids are black all my relationships have been with black guys and i dont use the word at all not in a negative way and not as slang its not my place...but i have never questioned it either...some people think that calling a black person they dont like a "n" is ok but to me it has one derogatory meanig and thats that...many white people do ask stupid questions on the subject of the "n" word but its usually because they are stupid or picking a fight...my kids have never questioned this "n" word yet i assume because they get it...it takes ignorance to entertain this sort of topic in this day and age...and thats not reflected toward your asking this question but im sure you know what im saying

I don't know. To be honest, I've never really given the word much thought. I know I don't say it, but it's not like that takes conscious effort. I never get the urge to use it in conversation, with a person of any race.

"whites" didnt make it up. its derived from the spaish word ***** which means black, not just black people black anything.
and i agree its stupid to use but it bring up other questions like
- why can black eople make racial slurs at white people?
and blah blah blah..
inside everyone is the same. they may have been raised differently but born the same... the color change is because of the proximity to the equator.. nothing more.
racists are idiots for tinking they are better than somebody they've never even met.
and the "n" word is NEVER appropriate

the word ****** actually means an ignorant person well in todays standards, but what gets me, is that i hear white kids sayin it means ignorant so why cant we say it, well if it only means ignorant then why is it still used only towards black people and not everyone who acts ignorant, there is a lil bit of difference between ***** and ****** i say ***** just because im used to sayin it my mom says so i picked it up from her, white kids arent used to just saying it, and i think black people dont want white people to say it because its about respect i mean here is an example i say hey hoe to my friends, but am i gonna say it to my mom hell naw its disrespectful. so i mean ill put it this way white people can say it all they want just dont say it around me and im cool!!!!!

I just think that no one but black ppl can say it.... Otherwise i think the matter should be left alone its always brought up when white ppl say its no big deal....there is a history behind it and that fact that no one should say it but black ppl should be respected.

I don't think anyone should use it because that was the word slavemasters used and black men should not stoop so low and use it as a "cute" colloquialism."

in the "old" dictionary, a "N" was described as a person who is filthy, dirty, scummy, lowdown, etc. it mentions no color. somewhere along the line the "N's" gave the word to themselves. of course the "old dictionary" was discarded and the new one mentions nothing of this word.

Because the last kid who asked about it wanted to make people mad. He did. Now you have crawled out from under your rock and are firing it back at all of us.
Thanks.
