use this trick...where you see what percent insert x
where you see is put an equals sign
where you see of put a mutliplication sign
so...
3.5=x(200)
3.5=200x
x=3.5/200
x=200/3.5
x=.0175 now don't forget we have to change this decimal to percent by moving 2 places to the right
x=1.75%
to check 200(.0175)=3.5
Remember this works with all percent problems
so....
5% of 100 is what number
5%(100)=x
.05(100)=x
x=5
or what number is 2% of 50
x=2%(50)
x=.02(50)
x=1
45 is 30% of what number
45=30%x
45=.30x
x=45/.30
x=150
what number is 65% of 840
x=65%(840)
x=.65(840)
x=546
what percent of 180 is 36
x(180)=36
180x=36
x=36/180
x=.2
x= 20%
