Emo is short for emotional and it involves kids with the long lock of dark hair hanging in their face. The shake their head and it flips out then back in their eyes. Emo get upset about the slightest thing and blow it entirely out of proportion. Boys wear tight jeans. They are constantly obsessing about dying and always crying about something or other. Goths tend to dress in black wear theatrical outfits and listen to gothic rock.

Well goth is an art, its the appreciation of the beauty of darkness in its whole sense.you don't necesarily have to wear black all the time and use very harsh makeup to be goth.there are people who have the ability to create beautiful goth art such as poetry and have a deep understanding of the meaning of the obscure by dressing "normal". Now emo is more of a trend than anything else, now I know all emos out there are going to hate me for saying this but I think emos are a cheap copy of goths and if not an insult to it.there subculture is more about hair and clothing style than a focus of a specific meaning or aportation to true art.I consider their subculture quite to be pathetic honestly but that's just my opinion.

'Emo' is a stereotype that is short for 'emotional.' They are the ones who think 'they're' life is miserable, they don't think anyone can understand their so called 'deep' and 'complex' emotions, and they cry over everything. (Ever seen the kids with the cuts on their wrist? Yep, those are attention-yearning emos.) Another way to recognise this type of person is by the skin tight pants.
'Gothics' are a stereotype that focus more on being 'hard-core', 'wicked', and... well, 'eccentric.' Real 'gothics' are more streatched towards reaching a dark type of beauty. They're normally the ones with the huge pants and chains everywhere.
To put it simply, emos whine about how no one understands them, whereas gothics are simply looking for the beauty in everything.

Goth: Washed hair of a good enough length to cover the eyes, use sarcasm frequently, wear more from Hot Topics without altering it, and write bad poetry.
Emo: Greasy, obviously dyed hair, are more likely to cut and cry over someone else being sarcastic to them, will combine "dark" clothes from various stores, and write bad songs. (Which they then will try to play on a guitar, despite having no guitar-playing experience.)
