Battery life hasn't been all that great ever since I fell asleep and inadvertently let it over charge.
It's a macbook
Is there a portable battery extender (like they have for ipods and cell phones) that I can buy instead of spending $129.00 on a spare battery?
I need it for college, so it has to be something...

Hello: I have the same issue with my ibook. I did some research about it and I found out that there is a recall with some Apple batteries and also that you can try a couple of different things to fix your battery, so don't get rid of it yet. If you check the Apple website, you will find this information there.
Good luck!!

Try this first. drain your battery completely until all the lights are out. This will reset the level to zero. Do not charge immedialtely. Let the unit cool off for at least 2 hours. Then plug it in for charging. If it reaches 100% then remove the power adaptor. For battery maintenance it is advisable to drain it completely every month. Avoid overcharging the unit. Also please check the Apple website because they are recalling some battery of laptop computer because of defect.

I have the same issue. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, I'm trying to get the guys at ThinkGeek.com to stock something. That's where I get all of my gadgets.
You should try what the others suggested, drain the battery completely and recharge it.

Here's a really cheap solution. Unplug your Macand let it completely run down the battery. Now recharge it andsee how the battery performance is.

I think those battery extenders are only for single use. I'd check ebay or something. surely there is a cheaper way to buy a replacement.
