So sorry to hear of your lost i have been there i know the guilty feelings and the hurt but i guess after time and it is different for everyone things heal and don't feel bad about any checks your Dad must have wanted to you to have them clearly he loved you ask a Friend for a hug and cry all you want its OK

There will be more days like that. Time will help. Also, while its ok to spend some days grieving, force yourself to be around people you enjoy. That helped me a lot. I recommend spending some of the money on something that you would normally enjoy doing together. That also helps for his birthday. Its kind of hard at first, but eventually it can turn into a celebration of his life. My dad was a gambler, so every year on his birthday everyone gets together and heads to the casino in his honor.

Oh dear. Sorry for your loss. Life sucks. Getting the check is just another reminder of your loss. Cry all you want. it's okay to let it out. You'll feel more relieved when you cry then if you hold it in. Take care.

Sometimes it takes a while for it to sink in. I didn't cry when my Dad died, but when his dog died a year later, I cried like a baby.
