Oh my god! Where to start! I hope that it is not someone you know personally. If someone is truly narcissistic then they are not able to nurture properly so I would imagine that child would never be told how wonderful and beautiful they are which would have devastating affect in their adult life.

Narcissistic person is always self involved. I is all about them. If an event is uncomfortable annoying then they become a victim. The narcissistic does not see beyond their won personal needs at the moment. "Mommy Dearest" is a very close example of how they can behave and can inflict abuse to a child.
A child is a trophy to some narcissistic parents. When they are demanding or not a "doll' the narcissistic becomes the victim and view the child as crazy or troubled. The parent will view themselves as extremely burdened by the child and that the child is only on the planet to meet their needs. Ans of course the child never gets it right. SO it goes on and on like this for the lifetime of the child.

{Written for victim} If you are aware of the disorder you are miles ahead which most are not.Narcissists lie constantly in order to manage their image so victims have an inability to trust.A parent constantly changing the story is confusing and causes anxiety.Seeing the person behind the mask may help but by then you are messed up.Functional narcissists are resistant to treatment since America is a narcissistic society. We worry about children molested physically by men but do not worry much about psychological abuse by women.Old age weakens narcissists and they see the damage they have done. This is a facinating subject and you have your own patient to observe, develop a clinical distance and remember they are already condemded so your conviction is unnecessary.

Every child benefits from a lot of contact with their parents. However, if a parent is too involved in their own interests, or themselves, then that could be potentially damaging to the child, as they're not getting the love they need, & may result in that child having psychological problems later in life.

omg I could write a book on that! It is so hobbible that I can't type the answer here.

to the girl that asked...narcissistic is a person who is totally selfish in ways so beyond what anyone can begin to understand.
Some people with this go the next step and become narsistic-sociopaths. They will do anything they need to do to get what they need. They create their own reality.
