Women have erections the same as men. With women, the clitoris gets hard when it is stimulated.
The clitoris is made out of the same tissue as a man's penis (all babies start out with the same equipment in the womb. Testosterone makes the boy parts grow.). The same things that get a man's penis hard are the same things that will give a woman an erection: friction; sexual thoughts; direct stimulation.
Here's another interesting little tidbit for you. Some women actually ejaculate when they have an orgasm. You know how men have nipples but they never grow into mature breasts? Women have cells around the urethra that, in men, form the prostate gland. In some women, those cells are developed enough to release fluid during orgasm, thus creating the fluid that is squirted out.

Getting aroused depends on the individual woman. Some women feel sexually repressed and fight their sexual desires. Also there are many women with larger clitorises and they shouldn t be made to feel like a freak, because like men, women aren t all the same. And yes there is an actual erection, some women experience increased length , while other experience more width and length. Many women have their hood removed, so their clitoris can have more room to become wider and longer. Sometimes the hood has to be removed because it can cause discomfort when the clitoris becomes exited and erect.

I can't believe all these people who don't know that the clitoris is made from the same erectile tissue that the penis is made from and that it does, indeed, become engorged when a woman is aroused. Only the tip of it is outside, though, most of the length of it is internal where you can't really feel it (although you feel the sensation from it.)
However, I don't think female erection is really what you're referring to since it doesn't "show" the way male erection does. Female arousal CAN take longer than male arousal and female orgasm can definitely take longer. Nobody can tell you exactly what makes a girl have an orgasm; we're complex creatures and you need to learn exactly what makes the particular girl you are or are with have an orgasm (usually clitoral stimulation is a key part of it.)

The clitoris and labia can become engorged with blood, much
the way the penis does, and the nipples can protrude more,
also due to increased blood flow.
This happens usually for the same reasons it does in a guy
(although exposure to cold can cause increased nipple height

Sexual excitement tends to be caused by more visual things
