I dont know.
As far as I am concerned, I believe that humans are just another animal. Yes we have a more developed brain but we still eat, sleep and breed the same as other animals as well as still having a lot of our animal instincts intact.
People just like to think that they are better than animals. We have no more right to be here than them.

Well, most people have religious beliefs, and believe that they were made in the image of a deity, superior to all other things on the earth.

It's a convenient belief. They get to be superior by default, not through any deserving actions of their own...which is why we humans are such a mess, and have poisoned our own planet. Our lack of superiority is sadly evident, but you'll never convince most people that they're no more important than a bug, or a tree, or any other bit of flora or fauna. They reserve that kind of judgement for those who don't share their beliefs.

People find it hard to see themselves as part of a whole. Unfortunately, humans have somehow seperated themselves from the rest of nature. I even found it hard trying to explain to my 3 year old daughter the other day that people are animals too, not just animals but apes like gorrillas and orangutans. She just kept saying "But we are people mummy!"
Buddhists are probably the closest to nature because they believe they are part of the whole universe and a lot of their meditations concentrate on this. It dismays me to think that people cannot see that they are all part of this vast wondrous thing! Most people don't see themselves as part of their own neighbourhood.

They are completely ignorant to their surroundings & should realize they are simply part of it all. We are all connected as humans & should be thankful to nature for what it provides for us.
