I would say no....I wouldn't be too impressed if one of my guests at my wedding was wearing a white dress off white or not, even if it had black lace. The bride is the one that is suppose to wear white. I would find something else to wear, others may think you are trying to outdo the bride on her day. I know that is how I would feel.

Traditionally, shades of white are worn by the bride only, as it is her "day" and not to upstage her. If you believe that the bride would not mind you wearing a color that would be the same/similar to hers, wear the dress with a pashmina/shawl in black for your shoulders. You want to look like an invited guest, not a member of the bridal party, right?
Good luck!

At a traditional wedding, only the bride wears white. So it depends on what kind of wedding, and what the bride is wearing.

i be attentive to the gown is sounds lovly, yet out of appreciate on your chum you ought to no longer placed on it to her wedding ceremony. mutually as is does have black trim the close to white shade could be too close to her gown and do away with from her. or merely call up your chum and ask her!
