I assume you mean "wjat does y equal?"
7+2/3y=1/6y-5
7+5=(1/6-2/3)y
12=(1/6-4/6)y
12=-1/2 y
y=-24

7 + (2/3)y = (1/6)y - 5
You can multiply everything by 6 to get rid of the fractions.
6(7) + 6(2/3)y = 6(1/6)y - 6(5)
42 + 4y = y - 30
Subtract y from each side and subtract 42 from each side
3y = -72
Divide both sides by 3
y = -72/3
y = -24

Yes, yupchagee got it. If you put in any more of these I suggest you use parentheses
7 + (2/3)y = (1/6)y - 5
to make it clear that y is not part of the denominator. On first looking I thought it was 2/(3y)
And now I see mom thought the same thing, and answered accordingly!!

The way it is written I assume the y is in the denominator of each fraction.
multiple each term by the LCD, which is 6y
42y + 4 = 1 - 30Y
add 30 y to both sides
72y +4=1
subtract 4 from both sides
72y= -3
divide by 72
y=-3/72
y=-1/24

If u mean Y then
6y(7+2/3y=1/6y-5) * by common denominator
=(42y+4=1-30y) - simplify
=72y=-3
y= -3/72

7 + 2/3x = 1/6x - 5...............*x
7x + 2/3 = 1/6 - 5x
12 x = -1/2
x = -1/24
An Other solution
7 + 5 = (1/6 - 4/6)(1/y)
12 = -1/2y
y = -1/24
