I need advice. I am extremely bored of school, and I find many of the activities my class does to be pointless. It does not help me learn or reinforce anything. I can just read the book at home and understand it. I don't like all the "busy work" I have to do. My grades go down because I don't like doing it. I only like a few classes and that is English and French. I like English since it is a higher level, and I like how it is not too structured and lets me think about my interests. I like French because my teacher is funny, and I like to practice it. What should I do about my situation? I feel like almost every class is monotonous, and I wish I could go to school just to take the test. I rather just stay at home and read.

My 2 children feel exactly the same way - both high schoolers - They both say the classes are either very disruptive from other students who don't give a damn and play up constantly, the teachers don't seem to have any control over this behaviour either, so it is extremely hard for those students that are trying to learn. The other point is that my children say all (or most) of their classes are boring and uninteresting. I have been to the school (last term), but unfortunately nothing has changed. All I can say is that it's almost the end of the year, so you just have to put up with it and hope that things change in the new year. Good luck and I hope things improve for you too.

sounds like you could use some more challenging classes. check with your counselor to see if you can get moved up to some higher level courses, such as AP or IB if you're in high school. if you're not in high school yet, see if your school has a gifted and talented program. if those things don't work out, ask your teachers if they can give you some assignments that go above and beyond the requirement.

don't let your grades go down because the work is too easy for you. that's the WORST reason to do badly in class! get some initiative. if the requirement is 750 words, do 1000. if you are assigned a report, do a project to go along with it. trust me, your teachers will notice a difference! do it for your own ego if you can think of no better reason. good luck!

Do you think you are the first child who doesn't enjoy school? I am a high school student myself, and I don't hardly ever enjoy sitting through lectures and taking notes and doing stupid activites. But, do you want to go to college? Do you want to have a good paying job that you enjoy when you graduate from college? You must suck it up and do the absolute best youcan to get the best grades. If you think you should skip a grade, then why are you getting bad grades? Put in the extra effort to get a 4.0. You will get rewarded in the future. My only advice is to become more mature and suck it up.

Speak with the teachers about projects you can do or maybe getting transferred into a higher level class.
